From grape stomping to UFOs and casino nights, North Alabama has plenty happening this week. Whether you’re looking for a night out in Huntsville or a weekend activity for the whole family, here are some events taking place across the region from Aug. 21–27.
Stomp out Cancer: Grape Stomp – Toney
August 21
Head to La Famiglia Vineyards & Winery in Toney on Friday, Aug. 21, for an evening of grape stomping, live music and food while supporting breast cancer research and patient care. The event runs from 4–8 p.m., with grape stomping beginning at 5:30 p.m., live music from Cheryl Llewellyn and food from Smoothe Smoque BBQ available from 5–7:30 p.m. Admission is free, while grape stomping requires a $20 donation, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Huntsville Hospital Foundation for Breast Cancer.
Fyffe UFO Day – Fyffe
August 22
Come celebrate the out-of-this-world fun at Fyffe UFO Day! This annual event in Fyffe, Alabama, honors the town’s famous 1989 UFO sighting with a full day of food, music, arts & crafts, kids’ activities and more. Whether you’re a believer or just looking for a good time, there’s something for everyone — including a car show and live entertainment. Bring the whole family and keep your eyes on the sky! Gates open at 9 a.m. and music starts at 10 a.m.
2026 Huntsville HamFest – Huntsville
August 22
Head to the Von Braun Center in Huntsville Aug. 22–23 for the annual Huntsville Hamfest, a two-day event celebrating amateur radio, technology and the hobby’s community. This year’s event will also host the ARRL National Convention, bringing additional speakers, exhibits and programming to the weekend. Guests can browse commercial vendors and an indoor flea market, attend educational forums, explore the Youth Lounge and watch demonstrations throughout the event. The Hamfest runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $12 in advance or $15 at the door, with free admission for children 12 and younger.
End of Summer Social & Casino Night – Athens
August 27
Head to the Alabama Veterans Museum in Athens on Thursday, Aug. 27, for the North Alabama Land Trust’s “All In for the Zoo” End of Summer Social & Casino Night, beginning at 6 p.m. The evening blends casino-style games with a laid-back social atmosphere, offering a fun midweek outing for those looking to support a local cause.
Farm-to-Table: A Table of Neighbors – Madison
August 27
Celebrate Madison County agriculture at “A Table of Neighbors” on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 6:30–9 p.m. at the Auburn University Research & Innovation Campus in Huntsville. The evening will feature a locally inspired meal made with fresh, seasonal ingredients and highlight four local farms: Howling Fresh Farms, Hubert Family Farms, Scott’s Orchard and Vaughn Farms. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the farmers behind the food and hear a keynote address from Madison County Commission Chairman Rex Vaughn. Tickets are $75 per person.
U.S Space and Rocket Center Biergarten – Huntsville
August 27
Enjoy an evening of German food, live music and drinks beneath the Saturn V at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville. The Biergarten takes place Thursday, Aug. 27, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., offering free admission with food and drinks available for purchase. The weekly event brings a taste of Germany to the Rocket City while providing a unique backdrop surrounded by spaceflight history.
