Summer comes to a close this week and North Alabama has events to ring in autumn! Take your pick from these fun, first week of fall events.

Free Day of Dance – Huntsville

September 18

Huntsville Dance Community hosts the third annual Free Day of Dance over a two-day celebration. The event kicks off on Friday, September 18 at The Orion with performances from an array of Huntsville dancers specialists in ballet, folk and much more. The Greater Ardmore Chamber’s 34th Annual Crape Myrtle Festival – Ardmore

September 19

The Greater Ardmore Chamber’s 34th Annual Crape Myrtle Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Ardmore City Park in Ardmore, Alabama-Tennessee state line. Peruse over 100 vendors offering food, handmade arts, clothing and much more. The main event: The Greater Ardmore Chamber will be selling varieties of Crape Myrtles for $25 each.

Autumnal Equinox Concert – Huntsville

September 20

Celebrate the arrival of autumn at the Botanical Gardens during the Autumnal Equinox Celebration. Bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy a live performance by Southern Strings as they bring together classical and contemporary string music. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. Tickets start at $20 for members and $40 for non-members.

Evening with Priya Parker – Huntsville

September 22

The Snail on the Wall bookstore, Leadership Huntsville and Randolph school invite you to join them for an author talk with Priya Parker. Author of The Art of Gathering, she will be discussing her new book The Art of Fighting: The Transformative Power of Conflict. Tickets are $30 and include a copy of the book. This event takes place from 7 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. at Randolph School.

Taste of Madison – Madison

September 24

Taste and try bites from a spread of local Madison restaurants during the Taste of Madison. Hosted by Trash Pandas Foundation, proceeds benefit the Miracle League of Madison’s effort to build a Miracle League field at Palmer Park. Tickets are available for $90.
