HUNTSVILLE — What could be more fitting than to play a club called the Revolution onĀ Independence Day weekend?
Well, for Huntsville City FC, that’s just what the squad will be doing Sunday when New England Revolution II II visits Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
To help celebrate the holiday, the club is hosting an Americana Night Happy Hour at the Yellowhammer Craft Beer Garden from 4-5 p.m. with $2 off draft beers and hot dogs.
Also, the first 50 active-duty military members at the Happy Hour can have their picture taken with their family on the pitch.
Leading the charge for HCFC in the match will be Adem SipiÄ, who was selected to compete in Allstateās MLS NEXT All-Star Game next month.
The 17-year-old forward is the first player to complete the pathway to the pros by developing through Nashville SCās Academy onto Huntsville City FC, Nashvilleās MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, and finally by signing a first team contract June 13 with Nashville SC.
SipiÄ has appeared in eight matches for HCFC and scored one goal and the winning penalty kick in the tiebreaker shootout in the clubās inaugural match at Crown Legacy FC.
Huntsville City is 4-7-3,āÆ3SOW for 18 points; the Revolution II is 8-5-3, 3SOW for 30 points.
Sunday’s match is the first of a three-match homestand for Huntsville City. Orlando City B visits The Joe on July 9 and Toronto FC II comes to town July 16. Fans can buy tickets hereĀ or follow the action onĀ MLS Season PassĀ on the Apple TV app.
