Alabama Technology Network officially transitions to Alabama Training Network

The Alabama Technology Network is now the Alabama Training Network (ATN), a name change that better reflects the organization’s mission, impact, and the broad workforce solutions it delivers to businesses across the state. While the name is evolving, ATN’s commitment to strengthening Alabama’s workforce and supporting industry remains unchanged.

“This transition better reflects who we are and what we do every day,” said Keith Phillips, Executive Director of the Alabama Training Network. “Training has always been at the core of our work. The Alabama Training Network name clearly communicates our role in helping Alabama businesses upskill workers, strengthen operations, and remain competitive in a changing economy. We are proud to serve Alabama business and industry.”

ATN celebrated the transition with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, January 14, surrounded by partners, leaders, colleagues, and friends, alongside the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. The event formally marks the organization’s new name and reaffirms ATN’s alignment with ACCS’s mission to advance workforce development and economic growth across Alabama.

Since 2004, ATN has been a division of the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and has served as Alabama’s designated Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this role, ATN partners with manufacturers statewide to deliver workforce training, technical assistance, and business solutions that help companies sustain jobs, improve operations, and remain competitive.

With a team of 61 professionals located across Alabama, ATN offers more than 240 courses in key areas including Industrial Maintenance and Technology, Environmental Health and Safety, Agribusiness and Food Services, Continuous Improvement, and Leadership and Management Development. Over the past four quarters alone, ATN assisted 255 Alabama manufacturers, delivered 464 training solutions, and provided more than 32,000 hours of instruction.

Backed by more than 1,200 years of combined manufacturing experience, ATN’s experts work directly with employers to design and deliver customized training solutions tailored to each company’s unique needs. Together with ACCS, ATN forms the largest workforce training network in the state, serving thousands of individuals each year through both credit and non-credit programs.

Since its inception, ATN has helped create and retain more than 22,000 jobs and has contributed over $4.6 billion in client-reported economic impact to Alabama’s economy.
