Albertville, Providence farmers markets join in celebrating Sweet Grown Alabama Day

MONTGOMERY – A pair of area farmers markets joined others from across the state to celebrate locally grown products on Sweet Grown Alabama Day. From farmers markets and roadside stands to grocery stores and community events, the day was filled with flavor and support for Alabama’s hardworking farmers and fishermen.

Sweet Grown Alabama Day served as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting local growers and producers, including the Albertville Farmers Market and Huntsville’s Village of Providence Farmers Market. Also around the state, communities hosted events highlighting Alabama-grown fruits, vegetables, meats, honey, pecans, dairy, seafood and more.

“Sweet Grown Alabama Day is a celebration of the heart and soul of our state- our farmers,” said Aisling Walding, assistant director of Sweet Grown Alabama. “We were thrilled to see families, businesses and entire communities rally around local agriculture this weekend.
“Every tomato purchased, every flower picked and every farm visited makes a difference in keeping Alabama agriculture strong.”
