HUNTSVILLE – The local Delta Theta Lambda Education Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Huntsville chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, recognized 16 local students as scholars and awarded $20,000 in scholarships. The awards came at the organization’s annual Scholarship Awards presentation, which was held virtually for the second consecutive year.

Lee High School graduate Madisyn Graves was awarded the 2022 Wilbert L. Brown Rising Star Scholarship.

“As a student preparing to attend Tennessee State University in the fall to major in nursing, receiving these scholarship funds will do much to further and sustain my educational experiences,” Graves said during the ceremony.

The scholarships are made possible from the foundation’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Celebration in January.

A spokesperson for the foundation expressed their gratitude to corporate donors, who supported the foundation throughout the pandemic.
