Camino Alliance launches market initiative to serve Latino families in area

HUNTSVILLE- A non-profit headquartered in Huntsville is hoping to make life a little easier for North Alabama’s growing Latino population.

The organization, Camino Alliance, has launched the El Mercado del Pueblo initiative aimed at expanding Latino small businesses, celebrating the diversity of Latin culture in Huntsville.

The program also creates a space highlighting the food, music, and values contributed by the Latino community.

“The growing Latino immigrant community in the Huntsville area is ready to establish deeper roots in our city and to build community institutions that will help their children to thrive,” said Noel Castellanos, CEO of Camino Alliance. “Every day, I meet men and women in our community determined to build a better future for their families through their faith, strong work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit.”

El Mercado del Pueblo is every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Nov. 9 at the University Pickers parking lot, 3405 Triana Boulevard in Huntsville.

Along with artisan crafts, clothing, and specialty gifts, more than 20 food vendors will be on site with a variety of Latin breakfast and lunch options.
