Carmichael with a brace as Huntsville City FC douses Fire II

HUNTSVILLE – Kevin Carmichael had a first-half brace and Huntsville City FC posted one of its most commanding wins ever with a 5-0 victory Sunday over Chicago Fire II.

The win boosted the Boys in Blue to fourth place in the MLS NEXT Pro standings at 2-1-2-2 with 10 points.

Huntsville City got on the board early when Ethan O’Brien converted a penalty kick at the 23rd minute.

Carmichael made it 2-0 when he headed home a corner kick from Bryan Acosta at 38 minutes.

Then, Gunnar Studenhofft took a pass from Alan Carleton behind the Chicago defense and scored at the 47th minute.

About a minute later, Carmichael completed his brace on a misplayed header from the Fire II defense for the 4-0 lead. Zach Barrett was credited with the assist.

Adem Sipic capped off the night with a stoppage-time strike to seal the dominant win.

Goalkeeper Ammar Delic had his professional debut and, with two blocked shots, earned the first clean sheet of the season for Huntsville.

Huntsville City FC is back home Sunday for Run Rocket City Night against Inter Miami II (2-3-1-0, 7 points).
