HUNTSVILLE – The University of Alabama in Huntsville will welcome students, alumni, parents, families and friends to campus this week for Family & Friends Weekend 2025, a four-day celebration of Charger spirit and community
Set for Thursday through next Sunday, the event enables guests to experience UAH in their own way, with a wide variety of activities across campus and throughout the Rocket City. The weekend includes alumni events, open houses, athletic games, service opportunities, student showcases and family-friendly entertainment.
“We’ve combined what used to be separate Family and Alumni weekends into one exciting, unified experience,” said Dr. Ronnie Hebert, vice president for student affairs and dean of students at UAH. “Our goal is to give our families the best of both worlds — time with the Charger community on campus, as well as the chance to explore what makes Huntsville such a special place.”
One highlight this year is an exclusive “Cocktails and Cosmos” event at the Intuitive Planetarium for UAH guests and free of charge.
Events include:

Biergarten at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (Thursday): A Huntsville tradition featuring live music and local food, benefiting the UAH Alumni Association.

Fried Chicken Friday (Friday): A campus favorite returns for dinner with a family twist, hosted by the Alumni Association.

5K Color Run and Family Fun Day (Saturday): Start your Saturday with a burst of color and continue with games, music, food and more across campus.

Service Saturday: Volunteer opportunities led by the Serving, Organizing, Advocating, and Reflecting (SOAR) student organization.

Cocktails and Cosmos (Saturday): A private UAH planetarium show at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.

Athletics Hall of Fame Induction (Saturday): Celebrate Charger excellence at the annual ceremony on Saturday evening.

Send-Off Breakfast (Sunday): A complimentary farewell brunch before heading home.
Additional programming includes student performances, open mic night, academic showcases, student service department open houses and movie screenings, offering something for every interest and age.
Attendees can check in beginning Friday at Charger Union. Guests are encouraged to register in advance. Tickets are required for some events.
