HUNTSVILLE — CommentSold, a Huntsville-based digital commerce solution provider, has appointed Andy Olek as chief legal officer.

According to a news release, Olek has expertise in fast-growth software, advertising, marketplace, and ecommerce businesses, and will oversee the legal affairs of the live selling company including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, intellectual property and licensing, and privacy and compliance.

“At this phase in CommentSold’s growth, it is important that we have the right internal legal infrastructure in place to support the many product and organizational initiatives we have planned,” said Brandon Kruse, founder and CEO of CommentSold. “We are excited to add Andy to our team as he is a seasoned executive with 20-plus years’ experience who brings a strategic lens to legal and regulatory affairs.”

CommentSold provides retail businesses with technology infrastructure to operate and grow their businesses. The company powers e-commerce operations for more than 7,000 companies.

A patent attorney, Olek is a Navy veteran and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He holds master’s degrees from the University of Maryland and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Before joining CommentSold, Olek was general counsel at WeddingWire and its successor, The Knot Worldwide, for nearly 10 years. There, he founded the legal team that oversaw  acquisitions, acquired a private equity investment company, and took its larger public competitor private in a merger.
