HUNTSVILLE — It’s the first homework assignment of the new school year and it involves a field trip, but the kids won’t need a permission slip for this one.
The City of Huntsville Parks & Recreation and the Huntsville Police Department are throwing the ultimate Back to School Bash for students and teachers across Madison County.
The party is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Jaycees Community Building in Huntsville’s John Hunt Park. From 10 a.m. to noon, HEALS will be onsite to offer free sports physicals.
A splash of a good time awaits students – and some teachers: The principal in the dunk tank.
Escape from the summer heat by cooling off on an inflatable waterslide and get pumped up for the new school year with band and cheerleading performances.
It’s also the final day of the HPD school supply drive benefiting Free 2 Teach, which provides supplies to teachers at no cost. Those who wish to donate can drop off their items at the donation bin.
There will be dozens of back-to-school exhibitors and plenty of food trucks, so enjoy one last day of summer fun before the school bell rings.
The Back to School Bash is free and open to the public.
