FLORENCE – Get ready, Shoals area, to strut your stuff on the red carpet for a one-night-only event: “Holidays on the Silver Screen.”
Shoals Symphony is putting on the Hollywood glam for its holiday spectacular Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. — complete with paparazzi, flashing cameras, and all the sparkle of an opening night, at Norton Auditorium on the campus of the University of North Alabama.
The symphony presents a cinematic celebration of some favorite festive films and the magical music behind them — from nostalgic classics like “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Miracle on 34th Street” to blockbuster favorites like “The Polar Express,” “Harry Potter” (there’s snow and Christmas trees!), and “Home Alone.”
Upon arrival, walk the red carpet in the lobby as the paparazzi snaps your photo. Purchase your own star on the Shoals Walk of Fame (and see your name shine on screen), and grab a cup of hot cocoa for a quick warmup before settling in to your seat.
Then sit back, relax, and enjoy movie clips on the big screen while listening to the live symphony soundtrack.
Between musical pieces, the symphony will show short, fun recreations of iconic holiday movie moments featuring members of the Shoals community. The concert will run around 70 minutes (plus a 15-20 minute intermission) and is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.
Dress to impress on the red carpet, bring your loved ones, and join Shoals Symphony for a magical, musical night at the movies.
