EV showcase plugs into Fort Payne

FORT PAYNE – Alabamians prefer learning about electric vehicles (EVs) by talking to real-life EV owners about what it’s like to drive one every day.

That’s precisely what’s available today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Little River Canyon Center in Fort Payne, as members of the North Alabama chapter of Drive Electric Alabama will be available to answer questions about range, cost, maintenance, performance and other EV-related topics.

A selection of EVs will also be on display.

“EV owners love educating people about the advantages of driving an EV every day,” said Michael Staley, president of the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition, which helped coordinate Saturday’s EVent. “People who have never driven anything but a gasoline-fueled vehicle often walk away with a totally new outlook on what it’s like to drive electric.”

The EVent is part of the national Drive Electric Earth Day program, which is designed to share information about electric vehicles.
