‘Fearless fighter’ Britt named deputy Republican whip

WASHINGTON – Called a “fearless fighter for families and forgotten Americans,” U.S. Sen. Katie Britt today was named deputy whip by Majority Whip John Barrasso.

As deputy whip, Britt (R-Montgomery) will play a pivotal role in uniting the Republican conference and supporting President Trump’s agenda.

I am honored Senator Barrasso chose me to join his team as one of the deputy whips,” Britt said. “Our new Senate Republican majority has a tremendous opportunity to get things done and enact President Trump’s agenda.

“As deputy whip, I am excited to help unite our conference and make a difference in the lives of hardworking Americans.”  

Other senators named deputy whip are Jim Banks (R-Ind.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), and Todd Young (R-Ind.).

“I’m glad to have Katie as a member of our Whip Team,” Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said. “Katie is a fearless fighter for families and forgotten Americans. Her guiding principle is opportunity for all, especially our children. She works every day in the Senate to save our country and pass along a brighter future to the next generation.
