DECATUR – An event next week can help build a career in the construction industry.
Go Build Alabama is hosting a free hiring event June 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calhoun Community College’s Advanced Technology Center, 6250 U.S. 31 in Tanner.
The program offers career seekers a direct pathway into commercial construction careers.
Demand for skilled workers continues to rise as commercial construction projects expand across North Alabama, driving immediate openings for well-paying roles with long-term potential.
The event will bring together commercial construction employers with on-site interviews for full-time positions.
Participating employers include Fite Building Co. and Gregory Construction, which are hiring for high-demand roles. Attendees will also have the chance to connect with industry professionals, explore career pathways and gain insights into the commercial construction sector.
“Go Build Alabama is proud to lead efforts that connect Alabamians with real opportunities in commercial construction,” said Jason Phelps, executive director of the Alabama Construction Recruitment Institute. “This hiring event is about more than filling jobs. It’s about creating career pathways, supporting local communities and building the workforce needed to sustain North Alabama’s economic momentum and long-term growth.”
Calhoun Community College officials said they are proud to support workforce readiness in the region.
“As demand for skilled construction workers grows, Calhoun Community College is committed to helping the community connect with training and job opportunities that support North Alabama’s workforce and economic growth, and we are proud to partner with Go Build Alabama to host this hiring event,” said Kelli Morris, director of Career Services & Cooperative Learning.
