TORONTO – In a lot of sports, you give the ball to the player with the hot hand.

In soccer, it’s the hot foot.

And, for Huntsville City FC, that is the left foot of Kemy Amiche.

The talented midfielder scored the first goal Thursday in Huntsville City’s 2-1 win at Toronto FC II. It was the first road win of the season for HCFC and the club’s second straight win.

It was also Amiche’s third goal in the last two games and a team-high five goals.

How good is Amiche?

“I’d pay money out of my own pocket to watch Kemy Amiche play,” said Head Coach Jack Collison.

Josh Drack scored his first goal of season, which proved to be the eventual game-winner for Huntsville City (3-6-3, 3 shootout wins).

The match was another sign of the maturation of the first-year team, Collison said.

“The boys were phenomenal tonight,” he said. “It was a mature performance, it didn’t look like a team that had won only 2 games all year.

“It’s been a real growth from the group over the past couple of weeks.”

Now the club has a quick turnaround when Inter Miami visits Sunday. Inter defeated HCFC 4-3 earlier this season after trailing 3-1.

“It’s a real good test for this group,” Collison said of the upcoming match. “Starting like a house on fire … and end up losing the game.

“For us it’s an opportunity to pay them back a little bit.”

Father’s Day special

Huntsville City FC is helping dads celebrate their day Sunday.

There is a Father’s Day Happy Hour at the Yellowhammer Craft Beer Garden from 4-5 p.m. with $2 off draft beers and $2 hot dogs.

And, the first 25 dads at the Happy Hour will have an opportunity to have their picture made on the pitch with their family.

The match is 6 p.m. at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. Tickets can be purchased here.
