HUNTSVILLE — For high school seniors, the race is almost over. The finish line is nearly in sight.

All that remains are  those final steps to graduation day. Diplomas in hand, some students will go on to further education. Others will enter the workforce. Some remain unsure of their futures.

Those students who have not yet confirmed their post-graduation plans are encouraged to attend Tuesday’s Senior Sprint Career Fair from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Huntsville, 600 Governors Drive. Attendees should use entrance No. 7 on St. Clair Avenue across from the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.

The career fair, organized by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, is open to graduating seniors in Huntsville and Madison County. The event is intended to bridge the gap from high school to the workforce, providing graduates with a variety of career and training opportunities.

Seniors from Huntsville City Schools, Madison City Schools and Madison County Schools will attend with their respective career coaches. Seniors from private schools and homeschool programs are also invited.

Attendees should dress for success, bring your resume, a firm handshake, and plan to talk with employers.

For too many students, the absence of knowledge prevents them from making firm decisions about their futures. The Senior Sprint Career Fair seeks to raise awareness of careers for graduating seniors across Huntsville/Madison County and propel them toward a fruitful future.

Twenty employers have registered for this event, and fields include healthcare, finance, landscaping, manufacturing, retail, and more.

The employers are willing to train and hire high school graduates. There is also the opportunity for on-the-spot interviews.
