HUNTSVILLE — Las Trojas Cantina, home to the original beer and margarita Margarona, has come to Huntsville’s west side. The Mexican restaurant opened in the former Golden Corral building at 4920 University Drive – its sixth location in North Alabama and ninth in the state.

For those who have not already visited, the restaurant features an open taco bar. Here, diners can watch their food being prepared with fresh ingredients from prime Angus beef to chopped and prepared vegetables.

Las Trojas is the official creator of the Margarona, the combination of beer (preferably Corona) and flavored margarita. According to Karen Martinez, assistant manager at the new Huntsville location, the creation was discovered after experimenting with a variety of recipes and flavors.

Las Trojas will be adding new menu combinations to their already expansive selection of beef, seafood and vegetarian options at the Huntsville location.

“We tried to make this new Huntsville location different by encompassing our roots by bringing in Mexican-made products like hand-made lights, furniture, equipment, hand-made cups, and spices,” said Martinez. “We have created our menu and distinct recipes with the best fresh ingredients there are.”

Las Trojas now has two locations in Huntsville and restaurants in Madison, Athens, Hazel Green and Florence.
