HUNTSVILLE – Bill Roark, founder of Freedom Real Estate & Capital and Torch Technologies, has been named to the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology’s Board of Directors.
He brings three decades of executive leadership in defense-related business to the position.
As co-founder and former CEO of Torch, Roark guided the company to national recognition as one of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies in America. Under his leadership, Torch was a three-time recipient of the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for outstanding business ethics. The company was the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber as the Small Business of the Year in Technology in 2007. Torch is also four-time winner of the Best Places to Work in Huntsville/Madison County.
Prior to founding Torch, he served as senior vice president of Camber.
Roark graduated with a bachelor’s of science in mathematics from Cumberland College and Master’s of Science in physics from the University of Kentucky.
In addition to his support for HudsonAlpha, Roark is a philanthropic supporter of the Huntsville community, including the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville and Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
