HUNTSVILLE — Fans of soccer and competitors in the Huntsville running scene have something to look forward to  thanks to a partnership between the City of Huntsville and Huntsville City FC.

“After a successful first year for both of these events, we are excited to see what year two brings for Socctoberfest and the Holiday 5K,” said Chad Emerson, managing director of Business Operations. “We are looking forward to transporting fans to Germany with Socctoberfest, while welcoming veteran and new runners alike to race in the Holiday 5K and 10K.”

The second annual Socctoberfest runs every Thursday through Oct. 10 at the Yellowhammer Brewing Craft Beer Garden in Joe Davis Stadium from 4 to 8 p.m. Socctoberfest nights are free and include HCFC giveaways, entertainment on the stadium’s video board, and traditional German food and drink.

On Dec. 8, the second annual Holiday 5K and an inaugural 10K step off. The event features a special Huntsville City FC scarf for participants and an opportunity to run the pitch. The top three men and women and masters men and women (ages 50 and older) will receive prizes.

After the race, there will be finish-line refreshments, a celebration with food and beverages available and a visit from Santa Claus.

Runners can sign up for the 5K or 10K here.
