HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Hospital Heart Center’s Pediatric Cardiology Clinic cared for nearly 1,900 North Alabama children in its first year — a response that surpassed expectations and continues to grow.

Now, Huntsville Hospital Foundation is launching its 2025 Giving Tuesday campaign early to fund equipment that will increase access and ensure timely heart care remains close to home for local families.

Between now and Dec. 2, HHF’s top priority is to fully fund a second echocardiogram (echo) machine for the clinic, enabling the team to serve twice as many children in the year ahead.

“Every day we care for kids from all across North Alabama, from neonates to teens,” said Dr. Daniel Caicedo, pediatric cardiologist with Huntsville Hospital Heart Center Pediatric Cardiology. “For many families, this clinic means they don’t have to drive to Birmingham or Nashville to get answers about their child’s heart.

“With your help, we can do even more.”

Adding a second echo machine will:

  • Help twice as many kids get timely cardiac care
  • Reduce wait times and repeat visits
  • Expand future capabilities and services

To help meet this urgent need, Bentley Buick GMC has committed to match all donations up to $25,000, doubling the impact of every gift, officials said.

“Bentley Buick GMC’s partnership truly amplifies what HHF is able to provide for our public hospitals and community,” said Katie Coppens, HHF communications director. “Thanks to their generosity, your gifts can go twice as far to help local kids get the specialized heart care they need right here in Huntsville. When you give, your impact truly echoes — in every diagnosis, every heartbeat and every life changed.”

HHF must raise $86,443 to purchase the second echo machine and 100% of every donation goes directly to this cause, officials said.
