“We are honored to be recognized again as the No. 2 hospital in Alabama and to have 10 clinical areas of excellence highlighted by the news organization,” said Huntsville Hospital President and Chief Operating Officer Tracy Doughty. “It’s a credit to the hard work and dedication of our physicians and staff here in Madison County across our three campuses.”
To determine the annual rankings, U.S. News evaluated 118 acute-care hospitals in Alabama. Huntsville Hospital trailed only UAB Hospital in Birmingham in the metrics. The rankings are based on a variety of factors including risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, patient experience surveys, patient volume and data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
U.S. News’ evaluation of Huntsville Hospital also includes data from Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children and Madison Hospital. All three hospitals are part of the not-for-profit Huntsville Hospital Health System.
A global leader in quality rankings, U.S. News & World Reports Best Hospital rankings were introduced in 1989 and are updated annually to help consumers find the best care for themselves and their loved ones.
