Huntsville Hurricanes, new pro basketball team, holding tryouts

HUNTSVILLE — The Huntsville Hurricanes, the city’s newest entry in minor league sports, will hold tryouts this weekend for the 2022-23 season.

The tryouts are Saturday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at James Clemens High School, 11306 County Line Road in Madison. The cost is $100.

The professional Hurricanes belong to the The Basketball League, founded in 2017 with eight teams, has 42 teams in 20 states, according to a news release.

Through school visits and clinics, the league focuses on community and positively impacting lives on more than just basketball, the release said.
