Huntsville Museum of Art showcasing history of animation exhibit

HUNTSVILLE —  If you’re an animation fan, the Huntsville Museum of Art is offering a special look Sunday that will both pique your interest and foster a new appreciation for the filmmaking technique.

“A Journey into Imagimation” showcases the history of animation from its humble beginnings in the early 20th century to modern hit animation movies.

As an added feature, the museum is hosting a docent-led public tour from 2-3 p.m., which is included with museum admission.

“From Winsor McCay’s groundbreaking ‘Gertie the Dinosaur’ (1914) to modern classics ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Toy Story,’ the exhibition offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of animation techniques,” a description of the exhibit reads.

“Visitors are captivated by original cels, drawings, and models from iconic productions such as ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,’ ‘The Lion King,’ and ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit.’ The exhibition, which ends Sunday, “is a must-see for animation fans of all ages.”

“Don’t miss your chance to explore the magical world of animation and the incredible artistry behind your favorite characters.”

Additionally, there will be a scavenger hunt for children to let them more fully explore the exhibit.
