A Huntsville native and former North Alabama men’s basketball standout will make a triumphant return to the state of Alabama on Wednesday night when the Texas A&M Aggies take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Lee High School legend Jacari Lane returns to the Yellowhammer State to help his team try to take down a fledgling Crimson Tide squad, this time playing for Texas A&M who sits on top of the SEC standings.

Lane was a three-year standout for UNA before entering the transfer portal and choosing to play for former Mountain Brook High School and Samford Bulldogs head coach Bucky McMillan.

At Lee, Lane helped the team win two consecutive state titles, but was not highly recruited, leading him to stay at home and play for the UNA Lions. His numbers improved in each of his three seasons which allowed him to become a highly sought portal recruit.

“They just taught me a lot, not only on the court but off the court as well,” Lane said. “When I got [to Texas A&M I was kinda already prepared for most of the things I’m going through now…as soon as I got here it was just about me believing in myself.”

Lane has averaged nearly eight points and four assists per game for the Aggies, an important contributor to an SEC contending team.

Wednesday night in Coleman Coliseum will be his second game in the state of Alabama this season after a very impressive 17-point showing in Texas A&M’s thrilling victory over Auburn.

Tide fans across the north portion of the state will of course be rooting for the team in crimson rather than maroon on Wednesday night, but all eyes will be on Lane and his performance.
