Huntsville Utilities CEO receives leadership and managerial award

NASHVILLE – Huntsville Utilities President and CEO Wes Kelley recently received the Mark Crisson Leadership and Managerial Excellence Award, which is presented to managers of a public power utility or related agency for excellence.

Honored during the American Public Power Association’s National Conference in Nashville,  Kelley “met all the criteria for the award including leading by example and inspiring employees and staff to improve processes, services, and operations within the organization they lead,” according to a news release.

“At Huntsville Utilities, Kelley has defined key metrics and key performance indicators to show successful growth in the organization and ensure utility efforts benefit the customer,” the release said. “By leveraging transparent metrics, he has created a culture of doing the right thing, and instills a sense of understanding and pride in the workforce to grasp the importance of Huntsville’s work in the community.”

Kelley chairs the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association and is vice chair of APPA’s membership committee. He has also served on the TVA’s Regional Energy Resource Council and the Customer Planning Council.
