Huntsville-based NexTech Solutions has acquired a Maryland defense technology company, adding more than 90 engineers, operators and mission specialists to its growing defense technology portfolio.

The acquisition of Halcyon Days Consulting, announced Monday, expands NexTech’s capabilities in tactical mission networks and operational software used by the U.S. military and allied forces.

Halcyon Days, headquartered in Stevensville, Maryland, develops secure communications networks that allow military personnel to share information and coordinate operations in challenging environments.

According to NexTech, the company’s technology is currently supporting allied and partner forces in Eastern Europe and the Pacific, with approximately 20,000 users and more than 15,000 managed devices across two active theaters.

“HDC has done something rare, they’ve built and continuously refined a tactical networking capability under fire, in one of the most contested environments on the planet,” said NexTech CEO Joseph Paull. “Adding their team, their technology, and that hard-won operational insight to NTS gives our customers direct access to networks that have already been tested where it matters most. There is no substitute for that kind of validation.”

The acquisition also brings together Halcyon Days’ tactical networks with NexTech’s existing technologies, including MANTLE, a software platform designed to speed deployment of communications networks, and VidTerra COMPASS, which distributes video and data to military users.

The companies said the combined capabilities could reduce the time needed to establish a tactical network from weeks to hours.

“The NTS/HDC team will move faster from mission requirement to fielded capability, and all of our customers will benefit from a combined networking stack that has been proven in the toughest possible conditions,” said Halcyon Days CEO Kyle Miracle.

The deal marks NexTech’s sixth acquisition since receiving a strategic investment from Toronto-based private equity firm Clairvest in 2023.

It also follows the company’s August acquisition of BOOMSLANG Aerospace, which expanded its unmanned aircraft and counter-drone technology capabilities.

Headquartered in Huntsville, NexTech provides engineering, communications, cybersecurity and other technology solutions for military and government customers. The company also operates in Tampa and Northern Virginia.

Financial terms of the latest acquisition were not disclosed.
