Huntsville’s Resolution in partnership to deliver engineering services and electronics manufacturing for space operations

HUNTSVILLE — A Huntsville engineering company has partnered with a Maryland manufacturer to design, manufacture, and deliver electronics for space.
Huntsville-based Resolution and Advanced Mission Partners announced the strategic partnership that furthers both companies’ missions for advancing U.S. national security interests in space, as well as promoting scientific discovery and economic growth.
“The United States of America must continue to dominate in space, and Resolution is 100% committed to this strategic national interest,” said Resolution President Mary Scott Hunter. “This partnership deepens our electrical engineering services portfolio, positioning the company to deliver even greater value to our NASA and DoD customers.”
Resolution is a Service-Disabled-Veteran-Owned Small Business and is also Woman-Owned and SBA 8(a) certified. Based in Huntsville, Resolution has been delivering engineering services and subject matter expertise to NASA since the company’s inception in 2014.
AMP is a wholly owned subsidiary of Science Systems and Applications and brings extensive manufacturing and machining strengths to the partnership, anchored by its 32,000 square-foot electronics manufacturing facility in Baltimore and its 10,000 square-foot machine shop less than two miles from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
Shared capabilities of Resolution and AMP include:
  • Data analysis and visualization.
  • Program risk, issue, and opportunity assessment and mitigation.
  • Integrated program scheduling and major program integration.
  • Spacecraft manufacturing, integration, and test activities, including discrepancy investigations and resolution.
  • Unit-level manufacturing and test activities, including environmental testing, and flight data analysis.
  • Engineering support, including interface control document development, flight review boards, root cause corrective action, CONOPs development, engineering review boards, and independent verification and validation.
  • Subsystem expertise, including battery test and qualification, and solar array design.
  • Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical Parts Selection, printed circuit board design and sourcing, Design for Manufacturability services, and Circuit Card Assembly Services to include Quick Turn and Prototyping.
  • Advanced Rework and Repairs with state-of-the-art equipment for intricate Field-Programmable Gate Arrays/ Ball Grid Array board repairs.
  • Secure Operations with cleared personnel, electrostatic discharge-protected manufacturing floor, and three clean rooms.
  • Precision Machining, including Mil-I-45208A and Mil-STD-45662 compliant mechanical parts and assemblies, and computer numerical control compliant machines, manual lathes, presses, and mills.
