In perfect Harmony: Cullman County Tourism Bureau’s executive director named state Tourism Industry Employee of Year

CULLMAN — Have you “heard” the news?

That’s right!

Harmony Heard, executive director of the Cullman County Tourism Bureau, has been named the Tourism Industry Employee of the Year at the 2025 Alabama Governor’s Conference on Tourism.

The award, one of the state’s most distinguished honors in the tourism field, recognizes professionals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, dedication, and impact within Alabama’s travel and hospitality industry.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” said Heard. “Tourism is about more than just welcoming visitors — it’s about showcasing the heart of our community, supporting local businesses, and creating memorable experiences that inspire people to return again and again.”

In addition to receiving the award, Heard will also be inducted into the Alabama Travel Council, further solidifying her role as a leading voice in shaping the future of tourism across the state.

Since stepping into her role as executive director, Heard has worked to elevate Cullman County as a premier tourism destination. Her leadership guided the launch of marketing initiatives, innovative tourism development campaigns, and strong partnerships with local businesses and community organizations.

While Heard’s efforts have been cited as contributing to Cullman County growth as an integral part of Alabama’s tourism landscape, she is quick to share the glory.

“This recognition is a reflection of the incredible team, Board of Directors and partners I am fortunate to work with every day,” Heard said

The Alabama Governor’s Conference on Tourism, held annually, convenes industry leaders from across the state to recognize outstanding achievement and to discuss strategies for strengthening Alabama’s tourism sector.
