Intrepid’s Ideal Community Fund issues $12,600 in grants to support literacy and academic programs

The Intrepid Ideal Community Fund has gifted the first of two grants they will issue in 2022 with $7,600 going to the Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama and $5,000 going to the Huntsville Inner City Learning Center. Both grants will be used to support literacy and academic success programs for both organizations.

The Intrepid Ideal Community Fund (ICF) is a “Donor Advised Fund” managed by the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County. It makes regular grants on a quarterly basis to qualifying organizations based on applications received.

The Boys and Girls Club education programs are robust and include an early literacy program to prepare children for kindergarten, a STEM program with a lab at each location, career launch for teens, diplomas2Degrees, Money Matters and more.

This year, 120 seniors from the Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama will graduate in May.

“I can’t tell you the difference that companies like yours (Intrepid) make for the kids that we serve,” said Suzanne Rainey Thompson, vice president of BGCNA.

The Huntsville Inner City Learning Center is a volunteer-based, Christ-centered organization partnering with schools, families, and the community to help students with limited opportunities become spiritually aware, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens.

The organization provides children from kindergarten through eighth grade with a highly structured after school program focused on Biblical knowledge, mentorship and academic support.

The daily goal of the Huntsville Inner City Learning Center is to provide children with a safe environment that is enriching and conducive to learning.
