Jersey boys: Huntsville City FC hits the road to face Red Bulls II

HUNTSVILLE — While there were plenty of fireworks around this area the past couple of nights, Huntsville City FC is hoping to provide a little of their own tonight.

The Boys in Blue will be seeing red, as in Red Bulls II, in a key MLS NEXT Pro match in Montclair, N.J.

Eastern Conference-leading New York carries the league’s best record (10-2-3, 34 points) into this first meeting of the season between the two clubs. HCFC is fifth in the Eastern Conference at 5-3-5 for 23 points.

Red Bulls II lead the league with 38 goals but the Boys in Blue have a stifling defense and have allowed just 16 goals, the fourth-fewest in MLS NEXT Pro.

Christian Koffi leads the Huntsville City offense with 7 goals, good for seventh in the league.

Though the match is 1,000 miles away, fans can catch the action at Yellowhammer Brewery with $5 Yellowhammer Gold pints and $8 Boys in Blue shooters during the match. It will be carried live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Kickoff is 6 p.m.

HCFC returns home July 18 for a 7 p.m. match at Wicks Family Field against Columbus Crew 2. For tickets, click here.
