TORONTO – Christian Koffi’s goal late in the match was the eventual match-winner and enabled Huntsville City FC to bring home all three points Friday night with a 2-1 road win over Toronto FC II.

The win lifts HCFC to a 4-2-4 record, good for third place in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference standings. It is also the seventh time this season they’ve held their opponents to one goal or less.

The Boys in Blue controlled the tempo early, maintaining strong possession throughout the first half.  Blake Bowen came close in the 17th minute with a header that sailed just wide.

But HCFC broke through later in the half when Real Gill set up Moises Veliz for his first goal of the season, giving Huntsville a 1-0 lead going into the break.

Toronto tied the score in the second half, but Huntsville answered quickly when Koffi struck for his fifth goal of the season, putting Huntsville back in front and securing the 2-1 victory.

This win marks Huntsville City’s second consecutive win against Toronto FC II, following a 3-2 victory last August.

Huntsville City FC are off this weekend but return to action at Wicks Family Field on June 6 to host Orlando City B for Armed Forces Night. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
