HUNTSVILLE — Some families don’t like talking politics at dinner.
Well, the Madison County Republican Party is making an exception tonight.
The local GOP is hosting a Boots and BBQ today from 5-8 p.m. at the Jaycees Building on Airport Road in Huntsville.
Emceed by WVNN’s morning talk show host Dale Jackson with live music from JED Eye, the casual dinner is an opportunity to chat with candidates, elected officials and party leaders leading up to the Nov. 8 midterm election.
Admission is free and includes barbeque chicken, hot dogs, and all the “fixins.”
The candidates who will be on-hand are Wes Allen, Republican candidate for secretary of state; Andrew Sorrell, candidate for state auditor; Greg Cook, candidate for Supreme Court Place 5; David Cole, candidate for state representative District 10; Phillip Rigsby, candidate for state representative District 25; Heath Jones, candidate for Madison County Board of Education District 4; and Bill Byrd, candidate for Madison County Board of Education District 5.
Other elected leaders expected are state Treasurer Young Boozer; State Board of Education District 8 representative Wayne Reynolds; Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner; Madison County License Director Mark Craig; Madison County District Judge Place 2, Patty Demos; State Sen.Tom Butler; State Sen. Sam Givhan; and State Rep. Andy Whitt.
“Madison County Republicans are doing our part to Keep Madison County Working,” said Steve Schmidt, chairman of the Madison County Republican Party. “Boots and BBQ will showcase our strong Republican leaders. Together, we will keep Madison County the best place to live on Nov. 8.”
