Madison ‘Supporting Our Students’ campaign winding down

(Madison City Schools contributed)

MADISON — Madison City Schools is winding down this year’s “Supporting Our Students” campaign to help MCS students who may be struggling to pay for educational activities.

Donations made to the “Supporting Our Students” initiative will go toward ACT prep assistance, tutoring, academic fees, cap and gown, yearbook, class field trips, and any out-of-pocket expenses related to a school function, class or extra-curricular activity.

The program is promoted primarily from Giving Tuesday through December each year. However, donations are accepted throughout the year and they are tax deductible.

Teachers and staff have covered these expenses, many anonymously. However, this campaign is funded by donations channeled through fundraising expert, LeanStream, and doled out by a committee on a case-by-case basis.

MCS said Supporting Our Students is a great resource for Madison City families.

The goal is to ensure students have equal opportunities to participate in all activities without having to worry about cost.

Below is a comprehensive list of items and services impacted by your gift:

  • $10 – Basic needs (haircuts, laundry services, hygiene supplies)
  • $25 – Credit Recovery for a high school student
  • $25 – Field Trip fee
  • $30 – Basic needs (clothing, shoes, coats, job uniform)
  • $40 – Yearbook
  • $50 – Cap & Gown
  • $75 – Assistance with Fine Arts fee
  • $100 – Assistance with Sports fee
