Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has postponed a campaign rally scheduled for Monday evening in Marshall County due to the threat of severe weather across North Alabama.

Marshall’s campaign announced Monday that the “Steve Marshall for U.S. Senate Rally” planned for 6 p.m. at the Sand Mountain Amphitheater main building in Albertville has been postponed until further notice.

According to the campaign, forecasts indicate a high probability of severe storms in the region, including the potential for significant hail and tornadoes in Marshall County.

“The event is postponed due to weather,” the campaign said in a statement. “Weather forecasts indicate a high probability of significant hail and tornadoes in Marshall County this evening.”

The campaign encouraged residents to take appropriate safety precautions and said an update will be provided once a new date for the rally is determined.

The event was expected to draw several hundred supporters from across North Alabama as Marshall continues his campaign for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn).

Marshall, who previously served as Marshall County’s district attorney for 16 years, launched his Senate campaign in May and was the first Republican to enter the race.

He is seeking the Republican nomination in a growing GOP primary field that also includes U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), Navy SEAL Jared Hudson, former Trump and Tuberville staffer Morgan Murphy, and Lineville businessman Rodney Walker.

The Republican primary election is scheduled for May 19.
