A longtime community tradition is rolling back into downtown as Huntsville prepares to host the 17th annual Mayor’s Bike Ride.
The event, led by Mayor Tommy Battle, is set for Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m. in Big Spring Park. The family-friendly ride will take participants on a four-mile route through downtown.
“The Mayor’s Bike Ride is all about encouraging people to get active and enjoy the city from a new perspective,” Battle said. “It’s a fun way to support wellness while spending time with the residents who make Huntsville such a strong community.”
Held during Bike Safety Month, the annual event promotes exercise, nutrition and safe cycling while highlighting the city’s focus on multimodal transportation.
“Staying healthy doesn’t have to mean major lifestyle changes,” said Healthy Huntsville Coordinator Kevin Ready. “Sometimes it’s as simple as getting outside, moving your body and finding activities you enjoy. Events like the Mayor’s Bike Ride help residents build habits that make wellness part of everyday life.”
Participants are encouraged to arrive by 10:30 a.m. for check-in and registration. Bike vendors will be on-site with information about cycling and year-round activities.
The Huntsville Police Department Bike Unit will lead the ride, and helmets are required for all participants.
