Milton Frank track ribbon-cutting a ‘special’ event

HUNTSVILLE — Milton Frank Stadium is the starting line May 10 for a ribbon-cutting followed by a Track and Field Fun Day hosted by the Huntsville City Schools’ Special Education Department.

The ceremony celebrates the replacement of the old asphalt track with a synthetic running surface that offers optimal traction and a less punishing running experience, officials said. Friday’s original date was postponed due to inclement weather. Updated 9:39 a.m. May 5.

Students will compete in a variety of events including a 50-yard dash, 25-yard wheelchair race, and a long jump.

Milton Frank is used primarily for high school and middle school football, soccer matches and track meets. It is also the center of activity for annual Special Olympics for the Madison County area.
