On the weekend of April 26-27, garden enthusiasts can browse through a selection of over 6,000 plants, including native plants, perennials, annual plants, trees, shrubs, tomatoes, herbs, and hanging baskets.

The plant sale is the perfect opportunity for gardening enthusiasts of all skill levels to find inspiration and stock up on plants for the season. Thousands of plants will be available to help bring any garden to life.

According to Barb Brown, president of the Morgan County Master Gardeners, the event will feature a variety of plants suited for different gardening needs, along with specialty plants and pre-arranged containers ideal for gift-giving.

Experienced gardeners will be available at the Ask a Master Gardener table to answer questions and offer free soil pH testing. Visitors are encouraged to bring a sample for testing in a quart-sized plastic storage bag filled halfway.

The sale hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 26 and 1-4 p.m. on April 27. Purchases must be made with cash or check only — credit and debit cards will not be accepted. Admission and parking are free.

This event is not pet-friendly. Only identifiable service animals wearing a marked vest or collar will be allowed.

The Morgan County Master Gardeners Association is a nonprofit organization operating under the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who provide the local community with reliable gardening information and educational opportunities.

Proceeds from the annual plant sale fund various community projects, including:

  • Monthly Lunch and Learn educational programs, free to the public at the Decatur Aquadome on the second Wednesday of each month from February through November.
  • Grant programs for local schools, assistance in planning and developing outdoor classrooms.
  • Donations of gardening publications to the local library, providing horticultural information.
  • Support for community gardens, parks, and exhibits.
  • Assistance with the Hospice of the Valley Garden and plant donations to their clients.
  • Contributions of hundreds of plants to local projects.
