ATHENS — Morgan Metals literally put the pedal to the metal Wednesday at the grand opening of its metal manufacturing building and loading dock.

Morgan Metals President Patrick Townsend joined Bethany Shockney, president/CEO, Limestone County Economic Development Association; Collin Daly, chairman, Limestone County Commission; Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks; and Pammie Jimmar, president, Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce at the ribbon-cutting of the 5,000 square-foot facility.

“As we celebrate the company’s 80th anniversary this year, I still remember when Morgan Metals started out in a very small facility,” said Townsend. “Now, this 5,000 square-foot expansion may very well be the first of one or two more buildings in the plans as we use the additional space to usher in new growth for our company hopefully, for many years to come.”

This expansion will help Morgan Metals provide manufacturing support in North Alabama, including defense and government work, automotive fabrication, and other commercial entities.

Morgan Metals will also be adding CNC milling and lathes, a laser plasma cutting machine, and a powder coatings system to the new space.
