‘Music Notes, Candlelight & Yoga’ coming to Lowe Mill

HUNTSVILLE — “Breathe.”

That’s the one word yoga instructor Cathy Lighton wants you to remember. Running errands, doing chores and, yes, working long hours at your desk, Lighton said the most important thing to remember is to breathe and practice mindfulness.

Lighton has been a yoga instructor for more than 30 years, specializing in Vinyasa Flow, with breath as the first priority.

“Vinyasa Flow connects the breath with your movement,” said Lighton. “Breath regulates everything – your mood, your health, your anxiety, all of those things. For me, if something is amiss, I can sit down and focus on my breath and it will work it out.”

Lighton and her husband, photographer Doug Lighton, recently moved back to the area after a couple of years of exploring.

“We enjoyed our time as a couple and exploring together but we missed the community and our family here,” she said. “Huntsville is such a special place, we’re happy to be back.”

Lighton offers private and limited-space yoga classes, as well corporate wellness events. The Reiki Master will also be hosting an evening of candlelight yoga and relaxing live music May 4 at Lowe Mill.

“I’m so excited for Music Notes, Candlelight & Yoga. It’s going to be a very special evening with Danny Davis Guitars and a very relaxing yoga flow,” said Lighton. “Church Street Wine Shoppe will be on hand for a wine tasting afterwards, as well Rooted and Raw with a mocktail.”

The class costs $40. Lighton said space is limited and reservations are recommended. For information, visit www.cathylightonyoga.com.
