NALZS hosts first annual Kids Festival at Monte Sano State Park this weekend

While the North Alabama Zoological Society remains busy working to bring a modern zoo to the region, its education and conservation efforts remain a top priority. Their volunteers are excited to welcome the community to Monte Sano State Park for their first Annual Kids Festival, Saturday April 9 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. This festival is free to attend, however, Monte Sano State Park will charge $10 per car for parking or $5 per walk-in.

Thanks to its generous sponsor Publix, Kids Festival will be packed with 40+ vendors including the Land Trust of North Alabama, Von Braun Astronomical Society, Cook Museum and Burritt on the Mountain. Some of the region’s best food trucks will be on hand as well. Children will even be able to engage with and learn about local wildlife through NALZS activities and local wildlife experts. Owens Cross Roads Police & Moores Mill Volunteer Fire & Rescue will also be on hand to let kids explore their trucks.

Prizes will be plentiful and there will be several drawings throughout the event.

“Education and seeing children have that “ah-ha” moment are core to what NALZS has set out to do. Through our nature camps, our nationally certified Frog Watch program, our afterschool clubs and events like this – we are just getting started. I’m proud of the work our volunteers are doing and I hope our community comes out and has a blast,” said NALZS executive director Ethan Woodruff.

More information and a full list of vendors can be found here at https://www.nalzs.org/kids-festival.
