The National Children’s Advocacy Center will host its first-ever Mahjong for a Mission tournament in February, combining friendly competition with fundraising to support children impacted by abuse.
The Galentine’s-style brunch event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at The Ledges in Huntsville. Organizers say the tournament will feature mimosas, social play and three games of American-style Mahjong, all in support of NCAC’s mission to strengthen the response to child abuse.
Local Mahjong enthusiast Anna Ford, known online as @wannamahj, will host the tournament and help keep the games running smoothly. The event is presented by The Collective Counseling and Consulting, LLC.
Participants are encouraged to form teams and reserve tables in advance. Players are asked to bring their own Mahjong sets, though mats and lamps will be provided. NCAC officials say a limited number of sets will be available for those unable to bring one by contacting the organization ahead of time.
Founded in Huntsville in 1985 by former Congressman and District Attorney Bud Cramer, the National Children’s Advocacy Center is the world’s first Children’s Advocacy Center. The organization pioneered a multidisciplinary approach to child abuse investigations, bringing together law enforcement, child protection, prosecutors and medical and mental health professionals to reduce trauma and improve outcomes for children.
Over the past four decades, the NCAC has become a global leader in training and advocacy, serving as the model for thousands of Children’s Advocacy Centers and Barnahus centers worldwide. Each year, the organization trains thousands of professionals and hosts the International Symposium on Child Abuse, drawing experts from around the world to Huntsville.
Proceeds from Mahjong for a Mission will support NCAC’s local and global work to protect children and advance best practices in child abuse response.
Tickets are on sale now, and organizers encourage interested participants to reserve spots early as space is limited.
