GUNTERSVILLE — Marshall County Commission Chairman David Reed, who was appointed to the position two weeks ago, died Thursday.
According to the Alabama Reporter, citing County Commissioner Ronny Shumate, Reed “died from a fall at his home.”
Gov. Kay Ivey appointed Reed on June 6 to succeed late Chair James Hutcheson. He was sworn in June 11.
Reed is the fourth consecutive Marshall County Commission chairman to die in office.
“Marshall County is shocked and saddened to announce the passing of Chairman David Reed this afternoon,” Marshall County attorney Clint Maze said in a statement. “Please pray for Chairman Reed’s family as they deal with the shock and grief of his sudden and untimely death.”
