NIL entity offers UNA athletes Lion’s Share

FLORENCE — Student-athletes at the University of North Alabama will soon have more Name, Image, Likeness opportunities as the collective, The Lion’s Share, launches.

The Lion’s Share is a third-party organization with its own leadership, separate from the university.

“As Name, Image and Likeness continues to evolve and transform intercollegiate athletics, our athletic department has embraced the opportunity to lead in this emerging space and create pathways to best support our student-athletes,” Athletics Director Dr. Josh Looney said. “Numerous UNA student-athletes have secured NIL opportunities as a result.”

Last fall, UNA partnered with Altius Sports Partners – an NIL education and strategies partner for collegiate athletic departments – as a founding member of its NIL Academy Program. This collaboration provided student-athletes, coaches, administration, and donors with access to ASP’s advisory services and has positioned UNA to begin building an NIL program that is among the best in its division and conference.

“As our athletic department grows into the next phase of NIL, we’re excited about the launch of The Lion’s Share NIL Entity as an official sponsor of UNA Athletics,” Looney said. “The Lion’s Share has my steadfast support and our complete endorsement as the premier NIL Entity of UNA Athletics.”

For more information, visit www.thelionssharecollective.com, and follow the Lion’s Share on social media to learn about developing NIL opportunities for UNA student-athletes. Opportunities can include events such as appearances, camps, community engagement projects, and marketing partnerships.

“It’s an exciting time to be a Lion and momentum continues to build as we attack this new era of UNA Athletics together,” Looney said. “Thanks to our Lion supporters, we have celebrated many ‘firsts’ in our new Division I era and we’re poised to elevate our ‘Roar’ to new heights in the years ahead.”
