HUNTSVILLE — One more trip and it’s home sweet home for Huntsville City FC.

The first-year soccer club concludes its seven-match, season-opening road trip tonight in Chicago.

Then, in one week, HCFC makes its debut in the Rocket City. Crown Legacy of Charlotte visits the renovated Joe Davis Stadium for the 7 p.m. inaugural match Friday.

“We can’t wait to get in front of the fans,” head coach Jack Collison said. “We’ve got three or four players that we hope will get the fans off their seats …”

Season ticket memberships for Huntsville’s inaugural season at Joe Davis Stadium, including the home opener are still available, the club said. So far, more than 3,000 season tickets have been purchased for this season. Fans can buy season, group or single-match tickets at www.mlsnextpro.com/huntsvillecityfc/tickets.

On Tuesday, the city of Huntsville and HCFC are hosting a ribbon-cutting and open house at Joe Davis Stadium.

After the ceremony, the stadium gates will be open to Huntsville City FC fans for the first time. The club will also launch the kit the players will don for their MLS NEXT Pro home opener.

Fans will also get a chance to see the newly renovated stadium, check out their seats for the season, meet the team, and buy food, drinks, and Huntsville City FC merchandise.

Huntsville City FC (0W-4L-2D-2SOW-4 points) is the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of Major League Soccer’s Nashville SC.

Tonight, HCFC and Chicago Fire II kick off at 7 o’clock and Rocket Republic Brewing is hosting the official match watch party. Fans can also catch the action on the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV App.

“They play an exciting brand of football, similar to us in a lot of aspects,” Collison said of the Fire II. “It could be made to be a real cracker this weekend … hopefully we score more than we concede.”
