HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Animal Services is wrapping up a successful National Clear the Shelters Month with a special Adopt-On-The-Spot event this weekend.
Join Animal Services from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Petsense, 2143 Winchester Road NE, for free veterinary care and adoptions sponsored by Nucor.
Animal Services staff will be present to assist with the adoption process and to answer any questions.
“This is the perfect time to come meet your new best friend and open your heart and home to an animal in need,” Lauren Anders, Animal Services Program Services supervisor, said. “Whether you’re ready to adopt and dog or cat, can provide a short-term foster home or want to volunteer your time, we need your help to clear the shelter.”
Now in its 10th year, the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative is presented by NBCUniversal Local and designed to encourage pet adoption, fostering and support for shelters. Since its inception, the effort has helped more than 1 million pets find their forever home.

Animal Services is open Mondays and Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
