Priceville police to get three new patrol vehicles with $592,305 in federal funding

The Priceville Police Department will replace aging patrol vehicles and upgrade equipment with $592,305 in federal funding secured by U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville).

The funding will pay for three new patrol vehicles and the equipment needed to put them into service, along with other police equipment upgrades.

Strong joined Priceville Mayor Sam Heflin and Police Chief Jason Wigginton on Oct. 27 to highlight the funding and how it will help officers serve the community.

According to Strong’s office, the purchases will provide officers with reliable vehicles and equipment to carry out their duties.

Strong, a member of the House Appropriations Committee and a former firefighter, secured the money through fiscal year 2026 Community Project Funding. During the visit, he discussed the importance of supporting local law enforcement and ensuring first responders have the resources they need to keep their communities safe, his office said.

256 Today previously reported that the Priceville allocation was included in a $12.1 million funding package for North Alabama public safety, infrastructure and research projects. The package also included funding for police vehicles and equipment in Hartselle and Somerville, as well as emergency communications improvements in Lawrence County.
