DECATUR — To underscore Limestone County’s emergence as a hub for advanced manufacturing, a $25 million aircraft maintenance hangar is planned for Pryor Field Regional Airport.
Aleut Real Estate, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Aleut Corp., has finalized a ground lease at the Decatur airport to construct the facility with Huntsville-based Strata-G Solutions.
“This investment reflects continued confidence in Limestone County’s ability to attract and support world-class industrial operations,” said Limestone County Commission Chairman Collin Daly. “We’re excited to partner with Strata-G Solutions and Aleut Real Estate as they grow their footprint here and create new, high-quality jobs for our residents.”
The project marks a significant investment in aviation infrastructure, with a planned $25 million facility. Once completed the hangar will support maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for DoD & commercial aviation clients. The total expected capital investment of the project is $32.7 million.
“The decision by Strata-G Solutions to invest in Limestone County at Pryor Field Regional Airport further reinforces the strategic role our area plays in aviation and defense,” said Airport Director Adam Fox. “We’re proud to support companies like this that align with the airport’s mission to grow aviation-related industry and create opportunity throughout our region.”
This is the first development project for Aleut Real Estate in Alabama.
“With growing demand for aviation and defense support infrastructure in the Huntsville area, Pryor Field is a strategic starting point.” said Michael Jenks of Aleut Real Estate. “We’re especially proud to be working alongside Limestone County and Strata-G to shape a facility that meets both regional needs and operational goals.”
As part of broader regional support, Aleut and Strata-G were granted tax abatements by Limestone County to assist with project startup costs. The incentives will help reduce near-term overhead and contribute to long-term viability for commercial operations at the site, officials said.
“This project is a win on every level,” said Bethany Shockney, president and CEO of the Limestone County Economic Development Association. “Strata-G Solutions and Aleut Real Estate bring tremendous value to our local economy and workforce. Their investment underscores Limestone County’s continued emergence as a hub for high-tech and advanced manufacturing operations.
“We look forward to supporting their success in the years ahead.”
The project aligns with the Pryor Field Airport Authority’s southwest expansion plan and is supported by key partners including Limestone County and the state of Alabama. Currently in the pre-construction phase, the development is expected to be complete in about 18 months.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for this summer, with hangar completion anticipated in early 2027. Aleut Real Estate is working with Fite Building as the design-build contractor to lead the project.
