Pumpkins, apples and hayrides: 5 North Alabama farms to visit this fall

Pumpkins and apples and flowers, oh my! Whether you are seeking fall treats or autumnal experiences for the whole family, these North Alabama farms have you covered.

Isoms Orchard – Athens

It is apple cider season and Isom’s Orchard is ready with donuts, slushies and more apple goodies. Open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests can pick out pumpkins, gourds, and fresh flowers. The pumpkins and gourds start at $8 each or get 10 for $60.

Get in on the apple picking fun at Isoms Orchard from Oct. 1-18 for $18 per peck bag or $10 for a ½ peck.

Reeves’ Peach Farm – Hartselle

Reeves’ Peach Farm is a one-stop-shop for all your autumnal needs. The family owned farm also operates as a country market and restaurant. Pick out a pumpkin, pick some flowers, go on a hayride, play in the corn pit or take a turn on the jump pad. 

Admission to the farm is $12 per guest, though children aged 2 and under are free. Admission to the farm and the u-pick pumpkin patch is $17 per guest.

Reeves’ Peach Farm is open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.

McGee Farm – Florence 

McGee Farm is a mix of pumpkin patch and family fun. Visit the big barn, check out some mums and grab a bite from the Kitchen. The pumpkin patch admission is $3.25 a person for any guest over the age of two. Pumpkins start at $3 each. 

After you find your perfect pumpkin, visit with the goats and chickens, play in the hay or peruse the flower field. A jump on the jumping pillow is a separate cost.

McGee Farm is open weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Scott’s Orchard – Hazel Green

Scott’s Orchard invites guests to pick apples from Thursday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $7 per person with guests under 5 entering for free. After the apples have been picked, play on the swing set, take a turn on the bounce pad, and take a stroll through the trees while reading along with original trail stories.

Scott’s Orchard also offers a behind-the-scenes operation tour for those interested in seeing how this orchard operates from tree to table. Tour tickets are $12 per guest.

Tate Farms – Meridiaville

Tate farms offers no shortage of activities to get guests into the fall spirit. Sink into the corn cribs, enjoy a hayride, take a turn on the pedal cart and bound across the jumping pillow. There are barnyard animals to visit, photo ops for that perfect family picture and so much more! All of this before grabbing a pumpkin, delicious treats and other goodies available at the farm’s store.

There are many ways to get your fall fix this season. Grab a pumpkin and carve it up, bake your hand-picked apples into a sweet treat or just enjoy the fun of fall in North Alabama.
