Resolution joins $151B Missile Defense Agency SHIELD contract

HUNTSVILLE – Resolution, a Huntsville-based small business, has been selected as an awardee for a contract by the Missile Defense Agency.

The Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity multiple award contract is for the Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense, a multi-layered defense architecture intended to deliver continuous protection against a wide spectrum of evolving threats, the company said in a news release.

According to the release, faster acquisition of the technology needed to underpin homeland defense is a strategic goal of SHIELD.

“We are honored to be selected for this important mission,” said Mary Scott Hunter, president of Resolution, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, Woman-Owned, and SBA 8(a) certified company. “This award reflects the trust MDA has placed in our team’s dedication, technical excellence, and unwavering commitment to our nation’s defense.

“We look forward to bringing our proven capabilities to the SHIELD effort and continuing to work in defense of the United States of America.”

SHIELD is a 10-year contract with a $151 billion ceiling and is the primary vehicle for the development of a nationwide missile defense system. Resolution’s IDIQ award qualifies it to fulfill task orders for government customers committed to the development of the architecture.

Resolution will be bringing significant space engineering expertise to the effort, including:

  • Requirements development
  • Interface control document development
  • Integration and test support
  • Guidance, navigation, and control
  • Space-based communications
  • Power systems and battery design

Resolution also intends to offer its expanded capability of space-qualified electronics manufacturing along with its partner company, Advanced Mission Partners of Baltimore.
